Select an exposed word, then select a related word in another column to combine them. You can also drag a pack. Move gold category cards to the foundations and send matching packs there. Empty columns give you room to uncover buried cards.
Journey introduces new bands at levels 9, 21 and 37, only up to your selected difficulty ceiling. Free play lets you choose any band immediately. Relaxed has no move cap; Challenge uses the displayed budget.
Daily follows the UTC date. A saved daily game keeps its original deal after midnight; New deal loads the current day. Retry repeats the same cards.
Each puzzle has four categories, with five to eight words per category. Only exposed cards and packs can move. Packs must contain words from the same category, and cannot stack on a gold card. Clear every word. Relaxed has no move cap; Challenge ends when its move budget is used.
Drawing or moving a card or pack costs one move. Recycling the waste costs none and keeps its top card in place. Hints and undo are free; undo restores the move count. Each generated deal is checked for a complete solution within its budget.
Three stars allow six moves above the checked reference solution; two stars allow sixteen. Other wins earn one. Challenge allows thirty-two extra moves. The reference is a checked practical solution, not a mathematically proven minimum.
Your active deal, undo history, Journey level, bests and sound preference are stored only in this browser. Reload restores a valid session. No account is needed. Retrying improves the same deal’s best without repeatedly earning the same stars.
Hints look for a way to finish from your current board. If no continuation is found, try Undo or Retry. Drawing and recycling the same cards without changing the board will not uncover anything new.
Combining cards into packs can expose categories and let you move several words together. Before drawing, check whether a visible pack can clear a column.
Learn unfamiliar words through their category associations. In later levels, a mineral, poetic foot or astronomical term may be the connection you need. Retry the same deal to compare routes and improve your personal best.
For example, exposed Apple and Pear cards belong to Fruit. Move one onto the other to form a pack; when the gold Fruit card is on a foundation, send the matching pack there. The exact words vary by deal. Before drawing again, look at what combining a pack would uncover. Stay in Relaxed while learning; choose Challenge only when you want a move budget.
Word Sort combines solitaire-style card management with category discovery. There are 64 category pools and 512 word entries, including familiar everyday themes and optional specialist sets. Content is bundled; play requires no accounts or dictionary requests.
